About Romanian Design Week

Romanian Design Week is created and organized by The Institute. After a Preview edition that took place in 2013, the first edition of Romanian Design Week will take place between 16-25 May 2014. Romanian Design Week is an event dedicated to Romanian design that addresses a broad public of professionals, amateurs and enthusiasts. Romanian Design Week will involve cultural venues, galleries, design studios, hotels and restaurants, which embody the city’s creative dynamic, setting a vibrant itinerary of exhibitions, pop-up shops, creative conferences, parties and other events.

The Main Theme of 2014, represented in all RDW events: DESIGN IN PUBLIC SPACES

Romanian Design Week 2014 will focus on the importance of design in public spaces and the way design is actually improving our daily life, whether we talk about a well-designed public square, a wearable beautiful dress or a great, comfortable chair in a bar. Design is not supposed to be a luxury, design is everywhere, is a special language, a bridge, a connection between communities and passions. The spaces we share have an important role in our daily, urban life, they influence our ideas and our behavior and that’s why looking at them and designing them becomes a way of designing the future.
